Confédération générale du travail (CGT)
The General Confederation of Labour (Confédération générale du travail – CGT) is based in France and is strong of 690,000 members. It is affiliated to the European Trade Union Confederation and the International Trade Union Confederation and is one of the confederated unions representing France. Through its analysis, proposals and action, it aims at developping in society the ideals of freedom, equality, justice, secularism, brotherhood and solidarity. These ideals are translated into individual and collective guarantees: the right to education, employment, social protection, the means to live with dignity in the workplace, family and community, freedom of opinion and expression, industrial action, strikes and intervention in social and economic life, in business and in society. At the international level it works in major projects of solidarity and pays particular attention to the logic of sustainable human development.
