German Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty

The Initiative gegen die Todesstrafe e.V. (German Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty – GCADP) was founded in 1997 and is a non-profit organization since 2000. Our association is committed to the worldwide abolition of the death penalty.

Our work is based on the contents of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948 as well as the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights with its additional protocols and other human rights conventions.

GCADP is convinced that the death penalty is a cruel form of punishment that violates human dignity. We respect the prisoner as a human being without accepting his crime.

The focus of our activities is on well-founded educational work, non-partisan political commitment and the support of prisoners.
